53rd Annual Meeting
Mark your calendar now! The 25th RCLS Legislative Breakfast / 53rd Annual Meeting will be held on Friday morning, September 14 at The Fountains at the Wallkill Golf Club, Sands Road in Middletown. A scrumptious hot breakfast buffet will be served at 8:30 a.m.
Introductions of State and County legislators will begin at 9:00 a.m. followed by a short presentation of current issues facing libraries, testimonies from Library Champions and ending with a question and answer period. “Library Champions” are defined as regular library users who are willing to express his/her support for libraries.
County legislators from Orange, Rockland, Sullivan and Ulster counties as well as RCLS area State legislators have been invited to attend. The breakfast is an excellent opportunity to show the legislators how vital state funding and support are to the System and your library. Everyone is invited to attend - library staff, trustees, Friends and Library Champions.
The Annual Business Meeting will include a presentation of the 2013 RCLS Budget and election of two RCLS Trustees, one each from Orange and Rockland Counties. Anyone, other than a salaried employee of the System or any salaried employee of any of its members, is eligible for election as a voting member of the RCLS Board of Trustees. Nominees must reside in the county they will represent.
In addition, three awards will be presented at the Annual Meeting: Member Library Adult Program of the Year Award and Member Library Youth Program of the Year Award and Anthony J. Knipp Library Trustee Award.
