The West Nyack Free Library is seeking an enthusiastic part-time Adult and Teen Services Librarian with excellent customer service skills and experience working with young adults. This position is 20 hours a week and reports to the Head of Public Services.
Responsibilities will include:
- Provide reference, readers’ advisory, and technology assistance for adult and teen patrons.
- Recommend, develop and facilitate teen programs, summer reading, and teen services groups.
- Attend meetings and collaborate with area school librarians.
- Create displays, post information on social media and library website.
- Purchase materials for Young Adult, and maintain the Young Adult collection.
- Assist in reporting and compiling statistics and other reports as needed.
Requirements, Knowledge, Abilities, Skills
- MLS and NYS Public Library Certificate.
- Two years of professional experience in a public library.
- Proficiency in library methods, library databases, and computer and office technology.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to develop and implement library programming focused on teens.
- Ability to creatively solve problems and flexible with assignments and changing priorities.
The 20 hours a week will include one evening per week, and 4rd & 5th Saturday. Starting salary: $28.00-$30.00 per hour commensurate with experience.
