Location: Grahamsville, NY
The Daniel Pierce Library is seeking a thoughtful, organized and service-oriented individual to lead our community–oriented association library as Director. The library is located in the scenic Catskill Mountains and serves approximately 6,500 residents as well as numerous summer visitors. The library is housed in a 27,000 sq. ft facility that maintains a geothermal HVAC system, manicured grounds and shares space with a local museum.
Primary Responsibilities
· Lead and motivate an experienced staff to maintain the current level of quality programming
· Develop successful fundraising and grant writing to support programs
· Have experience budgeting as well as marketing and management of facilities
· Demonstrate knowledge of technology platforms
· Participate in and expand community partnerships including schools and civic groups
· Work to increase volunteer base
Minimum Qualifications
· Desire to meet and serve the library’s user community
· Ability to make administrative decisions, problem solve, interpret policies, and supervise staff
· Ability to motivate, establish, and maintain effective working relationships with associates, volunteers, other community agencies, and members of the public
· Demonstrate knowledge of the philosophy of professional library principles, practices, methods, and administration
· Creativity to develop, implement, and demonstrate techniques of library services
· Ability to organize job duties and work independently
· Thorough knowledge of computer hardware, software programs, and evolving platforms
Requirements
· Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited MLS program
· NY Public Librarian Certificate, or the ability to receive such within first 2 years of employment
· Preferred experience as a professional librarian
· Demonstrated leadership experience and interest in professional development through attending workshops and conferences
Compensation and Benefits
· Salary- Range of 68,000-70,000 annually. Benefits include generous vacation time, retirement account, and health insurance stipend.
