The Blauvelt Free Library is in a unique, historic building renovated in 2015 with a storybook-inspired children’s department. This Association Library is in Rockland County, NY, near several neighboring colleges and universities. The Board seeks an individual who can enhance the library’s mission to enrich the community by providing all patrons access to intellectual, cultural, and leisure resources. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking community leader who would continue our progress in meeting the needs of our community in the 21st century, is a creative, community-focused, and confident professional who will engage and empower the eight staff members and provide the library with strong organizational and fiscal management skills. The library director reports to a seven-member library board and is responsible for operating the library by following the policies and procedures adopted by the library board of trustees. The library’s annual budget is approximately $1 million.
Minimum Qualifications: A master’s degree in library and information Science from an ALA-accredited program or a master’s degree in public administration or business is preferred. Essential competencies include four years of professional experience with demonstrated management expertise, strong communication skills, the ability to build dynamic relationships and promote collaborative partnerships, and proven project management skills.
Compensation: Salary starts at $90,000, commensurate with credentials, with an excellent benefits package.
