The Moffat Library of Washingtonville, a public library located in the village of Washingtonville in Orange County, New York and serving a population of 25,000 residents, is seeking a dependable and friendly person to join our team as a part-time librarian. Librarians may rotate shifts to cover the Adult, Children’s & Teen reference desks.
Hours: 5 – 10 hours/week. Immediate opening for: Sundays 12-5pm; with occasional evening and Saturday coverage as needed. The library is open Monday-Thursday 10am-8pm; Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 10am-5pm; & Sunday 12-5pm.
This position requires: strong customer service skills; flexibility; a positive attitude; an understanding and ability to work with people of all ages; knowledge of children’s, teen, and adult literature; a good working knowledge of and comfort with current technology, online resources and trends; and experience in performing reference, reader’s advisory, and digital instruction for multiple age groups.
Requirements: Candidates must possess an MLS/MLIS degree + NYS Public Librarian’s Certificate at the time of appointment.
