The Cornwall Public Library is seeking a creative and organized individual to serve as a part-time Public Relations Specialist. The Public Relations Specialist promotes and informs the community about the library’s services and programs. Because this position impacts the library’s relationship with the community, candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to work tactfully and professionally with the public, flexibility, and a sense of humor.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, posting on social media, maintaining and updating the content of the library’s website in WordPress and other content management systems, designing and creating electronic and printed media, creating and sending press releases, photographing library events, and organizing information booths for several weekend festivals.
Starting pay ranges from $16 to $19 per hour, depending upon experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree with a preference given to a specialization in Communications, Marketing, or a related field OR work experience in a related field.
Strong proofreading, writing, and editing skills are a must. A strong facility with many forms of technology, including graphic arts software, word processing, etc., is also needed. Familiarity with website content management and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
