The Nyack Library in Rockland County, NY seeks a highly capable, innovative and dynamic Adult Services Librarian for a full time position. This position is for a 35-hour work week, including evenings and weekends as required. The Nyack Library is located in the heart of beautiful downtown Nyack, about 30 minutes north of Manhattan within view of the Hudson River.

Education and Experience

· An MLIS degree from an accredited University

· A NY State Public Librarian’s Certificate

· Three years’ experience as a librarian, preferably in a public library

· Three years’ experience planning, delivering and assessing public programs and events

· Demonstrated experience building and maintaining positive relationships with community partners

· Demonstrated fluency in use of Microsoft Office, Google Suite, virtual meeting and other digital and audio-visual technology

Essential Functions

· Plans, delivers and assesses all Library programs, exhibits and special events to educate, entertain and engage patrons

· Coordinates with other departments to plan, schedule and maintain library facilities and resources required for excellent program delivery

· Manages data collection and statistical reporting on library programming services

· Develops positive relationships with community organizations to identify opportunities for new library and information services and to promote library services and resources

· Plans and manages Adult Programs budget in consultation with the Department Head

· Organizes the activities, information sharing and agenda of the Programming Committee


· Vacation, holiday, medical, dental and NY State Retirement

· Library staff are represented by the Nyack Library Staff Association

· Base rate is $50,960 annually
