A public library in Rockland County serving a population of approximately 28,600 people is seeking a substitute Adult Reference Librarian. Schedule will include the 3rd Saturday of the month, Tuesday evenings, plus other day, evening and weekend hours as needed.
The ideal candidate will be an organized, reliable, self-starter who is creative and enthusiastic about working with adults and has a strong customer-service outlook. The candidate must possess excellent communication skills as well as the ability to successfully navigate interacting with patrons, co-workers, supervisors and volunteers.
Duties include Adult Reference services and the ability to offer one-on-one computer/database help to all patrons. Knowledge of and experience with all technologies and software used in library operations including, but not limited to SymphonyWeb, Internet, Libby/OverDrive, Hoopla, Microsoft Office Suite and Envisionware is desirable. The applicant must have an MLIS from an accredited library school and a New York State Public Librarian’s Professional Certificate. Salary is $26.00 per hour.
